What is Torana?

Torana means gateway. The word refers to the large arched gateways that are used for ceremonial purposes in eastern religions like Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.

The goal of this newsletter is to do just that - to act as a gateway to knowledge about Indian politics, policymaking, and more.

I’ve been doing this kind of writing for a little over a year now and have been published in places like Foreign Policy and the Spectator but I started a newsletter because I was interested in writing more regularly.

Initially, all the posts were coauthored with a really good friend of mine, Anang Mittal, but he’s got a lot of other commitments so he’s taking a break but he’ll hopefully contribute on occasion.

In the interim, if you’d like to get ahold of me, I’m on Twitter @AnikVJoshi and you can email me at anik.torana@gmail.com.
